Thank you Brian for your reply and sorry for my late reply. As this problem with the 'persistent' parameter isn't high on my priority list, I waited to see if it would be fixed in the 9.04 release.
I can tell you, it's not. Moreover, the whole 'iso-scan/filename=' parameter is not working in this release! It simply boots into the text- based installer. So It has actually gotten worse with Casper : ). Maybe I should file another bug report for this. Or I wait a little longer for Grub 2 that seems to support booting from an arbitrary ISO image.
