Does NOT hang for me anymore. I'm running Hardy 8.04 with kernel 2.6.24-24-generic. One of the recent kernel updates must've changed something (I only just rebooted this week, previous to that it has been ~200 days, so I'm not sure exactly which kernel fixed it for me).
I got ATA errors on reboot, and had to *remove* pci=nomsi to get my computer to start up normally.
