another addendum: After a cold re-boot (power down/up) going back into the printer selection area 'System/Admin/Printing' reveals that the HP 3820 I had to select in 'Make and Model' has remained selected as Hewlett-Packard Deskjet 3820.....great news, once it's selected it appears to remain stable.
No idea where the HP 910 hpijs, 3.9.2 came from, it happened twice so carelessness is ruled out....THAT part I'll leave to the experts!!! Again, excellent new version of Ubuntu ladies and gents.
