Addendum to above note:

After reviewing the printer setup again I noticed that:

Although I had selected the HP deskjet 3820 to be installed....(Ubuntu
had identified and appeared to bring up the driver), in the line "Make
and Model......it actually identified an 'HP 910 hpij5.3.9.2

Needless to say, it appears that while I selected the 3820 drivers it
installed the 910 drivers instead........I selected "Change" and clicked
on the drivers for a 3820 and now the 3820 is identified in Make and
Model

A test page has printed successfully, as well as a sentence typed in
Open Office.......

I don't know why the driver switch occurred....going to re-boot with
this configuration and make sure the settings remain after a reboot.
