Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 9.04 x64 clean install (specially created main and swap
partitions). Installed uswsusp 0.8-1.1ubuntu3 and splashy
0.3.13-3ubuntu2~ppa4 packages. s2disk works well but doesn't want to
show splash screen. It says "Looking for splash system... none" while
creating image and resuming. But splashy is correctly installed and
works well while starting up computer or shutting it down.

# /etc/uswsusp.conf(8) -- Configuration file for s2disk/s2both 
resume device = /dev/sda6
splash = y
compress = y
early writeout = y
image size = 1439249530
RSA key file = /etc/uswsusp.key
shutdown method = platform
compute checksum = y

PS: my splashy version is the modified version of 0.3.13-3ubuntu1. It's
used because original one conflicted with lsb-base - see bug:
