Same problem here -- have found gedit to be very slow after an upgrade to Jaunty.
Save As - takes a long time for the dialog box to appear, screen dims. Additionally, gedit chokes on some larger (but not huge) files. For example, a 200kB sql file (a dump if a phpbb3 forum) routinely hangs gedit when scrolling past a particular line each time. The primary text editor becoming unreliable is hugely important, IMO -- not sure why this is marked as "Low Importance".
