Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have a simple spreadsheet that I use to track my home-based business.

It has a date field in the first column on the left, and since the sheet
is only for the current year, I've chosen to format the field as "Jan
01", leaving the year hidden.

I usually just copied the format down the column to the next cells
(either by dragging the small square on the right corner, or by
selecting all the cells and choosing the format as "MMM DD"). So, when I
entered a new row, I just typed in the current Month/Day, and the year
was assumed (and formatted but hidden) to be the same as the last entry.

This worked fine until the recent update to OpenOffice (3.0.1). Now
when I try to enter, for example, Mar 21, as soon as I leave the cell it
gets set to Mar 01, and the year is taken from the day number (usually),
so the above example would yield Mar 01, 2021. Very annoying! It is
not a problem if I format the MM DD as numbers, such as 05-01, but only
when I type in the Month as a string.

This used to work! I just tried the same exercise in Gnumeric and it
works the way it used to in Open Office...so I'm can't be doing it
wrong.
