I can confirm this bug (and fix) in Jaunty amd64. Very frustrating as it is one of the excellent features of gnumeric. Used frequently to copy tables of data from database queries - with column names etc.
Note to others applying the patch manually: search for <property name="adjustment"> and replace with values above (there are different incorrect values in each of the mentioned files). The fix worked instantly.
