Almost the same, instead of the 3 SRCVERSION blocks, we can do with 1.
SRCVERSION line and the "case" bellow it are removed
#the 2 if else blocks are changed in to 3 blocks

whats now here stays
else
if [file is a link, 4 varants]
change the link
else #real file
old else
fi
fi
SRCVERSION variable takes its input from the old control file
