Mitchell, This issue should be resolved in the next couple days, I am currently waiting on karmic to be fixed it currently has a problem with linux- libc-dev headers missing. There was a bug in the ppa openoffice.org-l10n that I have resolved in the bzr repo and will be fixed when I upload the new version. Also the splash screen is out of date and I will need to get a new one from our artist. To verify which version you have installed you can either look in the package manager or under Help->About in OOo.
