I found that, while disabling screen blanking did stop the bug being
triggered in certain circumstances, wireless would still be disabled
whenever I used the XVideo extension.  As most of what I use the laptop
for involves a mix of WiFi and XVideo, I reverted to Intrepid for a
while...

I've patched the Openchrome package from Jaunty to include the patch
from Trac and tested it briefly on my Jaunty install, and I can verify
that it fixed the issues I've seen, both with screen blanking and XV and
also with suspend/resume.  It's in my PPA, for anyone who feels up to
trying it -- version 1:0.2.903+svn713-1ubuntu2~ppa3 is identical to
1:0.2.903+svn713-1ubuntu1 (which is the current Jaunty package) apart
from the two-line patch.  I'm in the process of upgrading to Jaunty
again :).

I'll attach the debdiff, for reference.
