Iif Possible,
can you switch to a text console by hitting
CTRL + ALT + F1, login there, and then run
apport-collect -p cups 368622
This will gather a lot of debugging information related to your issue.
To run apport-collect you may need to install the package python-launchpadlib
(apt-get install pythonplaunchpadlib)
