Cool thing you had the 1.8.1 package as well: have you installed Jaunty since the alpha days too? I did it, i built a brand new machine with the alpha distribution and then updated 'til final, this way i always got the 1.8.1 version that caused me lot of segfaults with other apps as well, i think we can identify that as the culprit. Please ignore my previous workaround that i've posted on the forums of manually launching "run-mozilla.sh", really, that's shouldn't be done anymore ;)
