Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs
The "Samba as a Domain Controller" guide located at https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/samba-dc.html and https://help.ubuntu.com/8.10/serverguide/C/samba-dc.html has a typo that causes joining of the domain from a Windows computer to fail with the message "the user name could not be found". In the section of the guide titled "Primary Domain Controller", in step three, the current documentation reads: add machine script = sudo /usr/sbin/useradd -n -g machines -c Machine -d /var/lib/samba -s /bin/false %u The "-n" flag should be an "-N" flag, as "-n" is not a valid option to the useradd command. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Typo in "Samba as a Domain Controller" causes joining to fail + Typo in "Samba as a Domain Controller" guide causes domain joining to fail -- Typo in "Samba as a Domain Controller" guide causes domain joining to fail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/371730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
