Installed Timidity as mister_k81 on this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-627983.html) suggests, and it doesn't freeze anymore. Timidity is a suggested dependence of RotT, maybe it should be mandatory as without it it doesn't work.
