I have the same issue, HP 1020 is listed so you can add it. Once added the 'download aditional software' dialog appears, and does nothing after clicking OK. So there is definitely a bug here.
I applied the hp-setup command, where apparently the firmware is downloaded, however in order to work I have to turn on the printer just before I send a job. Printing is also (as mentioned before) with a margin offset in OpenOffice Write. Adobe Reader prints fine.
