I just tried to install Xubuntu Fiesty herd 2 via the alternate install
disk on the same computer mentioned above. The install failed.

I noticed two things of interest. First of all, my standard ide disk
seemed to be detected as SCSI and was labeled SCSI1. There is no scsi
hardware on my machine. The disk is as standard as they come for a home
desk desktop system.

Then the install proceeded to "Select and Install Software" until it got
to 85% whereupon it did nothing else. Pushing the computer "on" button
didn't shut it down and Alt+F1 did nothing.

I have 512 MB of ram.
