I encountered a bit different, but possibly related thing on intel gma950 on dell mini 9 - it's quite possible that's due to overheating or some kind of buffer/memory overflow, usually when using compiz & doing lotsa of stuff everything works well, but then, when trying to play a movie, X(gdm) suddenly restarts after few seconds of movie playing (with some flicker over screen), then it's possible to logon, but when trying to play the movie, also with no other running app, gdm restarts at the same place of the movie.. like there's no free video memory.. sorry I've found no related stuff at logs
