AMD 64bit, ATI X700 (open source driver) running fresh Jaunty install. Same thing happens, high xorg CPU usage. Suspend and resume fixes it for me :)
I've seen one or two comments mentioning this may be related to power management or screensaver activity. Been ok for a few hours now. Let me know if I can help in testing.
