Yup, I can confirm this, very annoying and potentially dangerous bug. When I copy stuff to sdcard or usb stick (both automounted by kde) it goes very quick. Then I click safely remove and assume everything is done when the device icon has disappeared. It's not! On my usb-stick there is a flashing light indicating it is still busy, my sdcard however shows nothing, so i don't even know when it's safe to remove it. Consequently, I often mis some files (or have corrupted ones) when I check later.
Two things are wrong here in my opinion; - there should be a clear indication when safely remove is really done (apparently already available in dapper) - write cache should be switched of completely for removable devices. people (like me) tend to be sloppy and remove sticks whenever they please to ...without safely removing them. -- Edgy corrupts USB memory stick - both i386 and x86_64 https://launchpad.net/bugs/78226 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
