Public bug reported: Description: With systems using AUO and LG Philips 18.5" LVDS, as the graphic driver has installed, "Out of range" occurred by changing resolution from 1366*768 to 1440*900. This was due to that the maximum resolution for 18.5" panels are using 1366*768. This issue does not occurred under MSFT OS since the resolution cannot be adjusted above the maximum resolution.
Graphic Driver Versions: xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.4.1-1ubuntu10.5~test1_i386.deb linux-image-2.6.27-14-generic_2.6.27-14.33_i386.deb linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-14-generic_2.6.27-14.19_i386.deb Steps to replicate: 1. Ensure the system is configured with a 18.5" panel. 2. Have the system installed with fresh Ubuntu 8.10 OS. 3. Install the graphic driver packages by the following sequence: xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.4.1-1ubuntu10.5~test1_i386.deb linux-image-2.6.27-14-generic_2.6.27-14.33_i386.deb linux-restricted-modules-2.6.27-14-generic_2.6.27-14.19_i386.deb 4. Reboot the system. (i.e. - System will switched to resolution 1366*768 after reboot.) 5. Launch the Screen Resolution UI and select 1440*900 then click apply. 6. Observe the phenomenon occurred. (i.e. - Out of range occurred.)
