I fully agree. Xorg does not detect my monitors refresh rate correctly and quite often I have to use the "ctrl-alt-backspace" combination immediately after booting to force it to try again (sometimes several times).
Furthermore if a user is pressing three keys simultaneously they should be assumed to know what they are doing. After all most O/S have the ctrl-alt-del "three finger salute" combination available and that might reboot the computer ! A far better solution would be to have an initial install put an HTML help file (or shortcut to one) on the desktop which lists the key combinations and what they do with suitable warnings. Removing this functionality was unnecessary and quite frankly is tantamount to condescending hand holding and "nannying". Please return the functionality to the default install as frankly I do not appreciate being treated like a small child.
