Public bug reported:

After activating the graphics card drivers and rebooting I usually go to
the synaptic package manager and look for simple-ccsm (simple compiz
settings manager) so I can activate the compiz effects easily. All went
well and I chose my customizations. However when I used programs I had
no compiz effects at all, no wobbly windows ect. Yet all were activated
according to the simple compiz settings manager as I double checked. I
then right clicked on the desktop and chose the visual effects tab and
noticed that the effects were switched off. Once I set them to custom
the simple ccsm settings were activated. I've only had this problem with
the final release of jaunty as all the other builds worked fine without
me having to go to the visual effects tab via desktop.
