This is not a bug. You can setup the colors in these terminal emulators. For instance in Gnome Terminal by choosing the "Colors" tab while editing the current profile.
By default the 3rd color is brown (counting from 0), this is set via ^[[33m / ^[[43m (that is really yellow in the reference you cited).
