This happened to me with too on my laptop. I assume this happens to all those people who have this Intel card and have touched their xorg.conf. In my case it was altered automatically by Ubuntu when using my external monitor, because the screen resolution widget wrote stuff in xorg.conf.
If simply using an external monitor in non-mirroring mode causes an error state that requires the command line and lots of hacker knowledge, I'd call that a pretty serious bug. I'd call this a bug either in the update service, since it does not run dpkg-reconfigure (or whatever it is that it should do) but rather leads to performance degradation or in the screen resolution widget that writes stuff to xorg.conf in a way that causes problems. -- [Jaunty] No more 3D acceleration with Intel 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
