actually the modes ARE required or the screen is about 1/4 of what it should be. the modes are off.The rest may not be required, as it was pulled off the net. I have noticed issues with xorg on PPC after it upgraded from the old X11 interface.THis was one of those. If you'll excuse me I'll go get that report.
