Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eog
1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu. I am using ubuntu Jaunty. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename' or by checking in Synaptic. eog: Installed: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen I expected two scenarios: * If starting eye of gnome from the terminal for it to start right away. * If I was in any folder with pictures opening a single picture, or a folder with many pictures, or a slideshow of pictures. For it to start to show any of the pictures right away, 4) What happened instead * Eye of gnome did open in either scenarios but it took the program to load itself empty in about 1 1/2 minutes or with any picture inside in 1 1/2 minutes. The error it reported varies in number (eog:9836 but may change to another). Error example: $ eog ** (eog:9836): WARNING **: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. More info: I thought that i fixed it when I stopped dbus and it logged me out forcing a hard reboot. As keyboard access was lost. After the reboot the pictures opened instantly followed to reverting back to the problem as in the bug. I seen another report but it seems a bit different at first reading it.
