** Description changed:

On ubuntu 8.04 amd64 with nvidia (binary driver), from months I have
  following problem:

sometimes (at random it seems, around 30%) when I open a video in mplayer or
in Kaffeine
(and afair also in VLC), then the colors/hue are wrong, like if blue channel
is lower:
human skin becomes yellow, white is bit blue, etc.

This problem is fixed when ever I open nvidia-settings
go to: X Server Video Settings
  and reset to hardware defaults.

Both before and after the reset, the GUI in nvidia-settings shows the same
values:
  [x] Sync to BLank Brightness=0 Contrast=4096
but after I click the reset, instantly video shows up correctly.
