That works fine on my feisty desktop with kedit, marking unconfirmed;
maybe somebody else is getting that problem and can have a look on it.
Could you try with an another user on your configuration if you get the
same problme? You are not the only one to use KDE applications under
GNOME and there is no other bug about that opened, that's probably
trigered by some configuration option you are using
