Good day,

The file will open if you remove the file extension and have it marked
executable. This behavior is probably by design. If someone accidentally
marks a file such as a .png as executable they still expect it to open
in an image viewer, not try to run and give an error. The file manager
does not differentiate.

If you feel this is in error, please feel free to reopen the bug.
