Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
My laptop had Ubuntu 8.04, later upgraded to 8.10, then upgraded to Jaunty using 'update-manager -d'. All the download process was fine upto the package installation and configuration process. On Intrepid I installed python 2.4 alongside 2.5. I need it for python development such as zope, plone etc. Jaunty installed python 2.6 but for some reason /usr/bin/python symlink was removed (it was pointing to python 2.5), but never restored to the adequate path (/usr/bin/python2.6). Since /usr/bin/python was not available, a lot of scripts failed. I managed to solve this issue by manually creating the /usr/bin/python (to 2.6) symlink and reinstalling ubuntu-desktop package. That solved the problem completely. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: python update-manager -- Upgrade tool crashes if using different versions of python https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363808 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
