Hibernation: writing all the data on disk works (a few warnings pop by, 'pcmcia_socket0 warning: DANGER: unable to remove socket power'). After a few seconds the num/scrl/caps flash once and the screen is black. However, the CPU-fan keeps blowing so the power isn't completely down. After pushing the power button 5 secs the computer powers down. Waking up works, even after the manual shutdown. I tested this 3 times. I also tested from tty1 with pm-hibernate, the same warnings flash by and the laptop won't shut down automatically.
So for hibernation the only buggy part seems the non-shutting down of the laptop after the hibernation process. Suspend from X: the screen blanks out, but the laptop won't shut down (fans keep blowing) Suspend from tty1: the screen is cleared and a blinking cursor is visible in the top left corner. Laptop won't shut down, keyboard is not responsive. Suspend from tty1 with no_console_suspend kernel boot option: same as the one before (blinking cursor in top left corner). However, no extra messages visible, despite the no_console_suspend. Booting after a hard shutdown (5sec press of powerbutton) of the laptop gives a normal boot. So for suspend it seems like the same problem as with the hibernation: the non-shutting down of the laptop. A normal shutdown (so no suspend/resume) works like it should (e.g. no manual 5sec power button push necessary) -- [Sony VGN-BX196VP] hibernate/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335771 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
