Before I do any test, I would be sure to understand the logic behind the automatic notification: my settings say "check for updates: daily" and "notify the availability of new updates"; what I understand is that the system should make a 'apt-get update' every day (and it seems to work) and if there at least an available update it should be notified (and it doesn't work!). It is correct?
