This also happens with flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.12.36ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 8.10 with the gnome-settings-daemon volume-change overlays and notify- osd not installed at all. So it's a bug in the Flash plug-in, not a bug in Notify OSD.
