After some KDE updates all .desktop files look like this:

Name=Desktop Cube
Icon=preferences-system-windows-effect-cube
Comment=Display each virtual desktop on a side of a cube
Type=Service
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=KWin/Effect
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Author=Martin Gräßlin
x-kde-plugininfo-email=ubu...@martin-graesslin.com
[...]
This causes no translations in KDE's System Settings, and all other menus.
A normal .desktop file should look like this:

Name=Desktop Cube
