With all today updates of Jaunty (kernel, xorg, xorg drivers, KUbuntu KDE4,
everything other that arrives through aptitude dist-upgrade, and a fresh
reboot), the bug still persists.
My computer is ASUS Z99Le notebook with A8Le motheboard and Intel Mobile
GM965/GL960 video controller.
The video driver is autodetected as "intel".
To reproduce the bug, it is enough to run GoogleEarth (it is OpenGL application
if I understand correctly) for about 5 minutes and exit it, and then the
graphics and keyboard freeze very soon (after 5..10 minutes of using some other
apps like Seamonkey/Pidgin/Skype/Konsole), leaving only the mouse pointer
moving.
It is still possible to log into the system by network (and see these SIGLARMs
in X by strace/ltrace).
As I understand, at this time, the X server is trying to do ioctls on the file
descriptor opened for /dev/dri/card0 and getting SIGALRMs in response.
But killing the X server and hoping for kdm to restart it does not help - I
have to do full reboot of the system to restore proper graphics operation.
