Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
something about the way Firefox allows the flash plugin to lock the sound device leaves it locked even after the tab that contained the falsh movie is closed. COmpared to Epiphany which does not maintain a hold on the audio device when a tab containing a flash is closed, it seems that this firefox is "doing it wrong" when closing a tab that had a flash plugin in it. steps to reproduce: 1. Open Epiphany and browse to http://www.eye4u.com in a new tab 2. In a terminal try to play some audio file with mpg123 - notice that mpg123 can not open the audio device 3. In Epiphany close the tab that contains the flash movie with sound 4. Try to play the sound file with mpg123 again - notice that mpg123 can now play with Epiphany still open Close Epiphany and follow the same steps with Firefox 1. Open Firefox and browse to http://www.eye4u.com in a new tab 2. In a terminal try to play some audio file with mpg123 - notice that mpg123 can not open the audio device, same as before 3. In Firefox close the tab that contains the flash movie with sound 4. Try to play the sound file with mpg123 again - notice that mpg123 still can not play with Firefox still open but flash tab closed ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10 Package: firefox-3.0 3.0.8+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.2 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: firefox-3.0 Uname: Linux 2.6.27-9-generic i686 ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- Flash does not release audio device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
