** Description changed: I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 beta 64 bit version. I had installed the ubuntu- restricted-extras and I could use the java plug in and visit chat rooms. However since today I cannot get into chat rooms as the Java applet does not load at all. I used to see the java applet load but not any more. I'm attaching a screen print of what I see and it wont change from that. It may have been todays updates or possibly yesterdays thats affected the java plug in as I've not been using any chat rooms for a couple of days now. Update: This problem appears to be widespread as I've just come across another site* requiring Java and I have the same blank space where Java applet should load * http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html Update: Just tried a fresh install of jaunty beta 64 bit, using the ubuntu restricted repositories and the exact same problem is replicated, unable to use java. + + Update: I failed to see an error message at the bottom of the screen + which may suggest the cause of the problem. This message doesnt always + appear, however the blank space is always there, with absolutely no sign + of the java applet loading. The error message states "failed to handle + mess...@getjavaobject Thread[thread-1,5,main]ERROR."
