Today I repeated the stress test on my MacBook 4,1, with checkbox updated version 0.7.1 (and all other packages up-to-date as well).
The results were very similar to those described above, with the problems beginning even earlier. The machine wouldn't resume automatically from test no. 2 (AC adapter not connected). After resuming manually, the "read-only file system" messages appeared once again, and I had to cancel the tests. This time, however, I managed to save the complete terminal output from my test session (using ssh over a wired network connection to another machine on my network; see attachment). In general, suspend has gotten considerably worse during the past week on my MacBook 4,1 with Jaunty Beta. Very often the touchpad is responding very sluggishly after a resume, making it mostly unusable and forcing me to restart the computer. Sometimes there's even a "interrupt 21: nobody cared" error during resume, after which everything is extremely slow and unstable, major system components won't work, and a restart is inevitable. All these issues were common in Hardy and Intrepid, seemed to have been resolved in Jaunty but are now back again. So for the time being, suspend has to be considered broken on the MacBook 4,1 in Jaunty Beta. ** Attachment added: "Terminal output during failed stress test" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24912774/suspend_test.txt ** Summary changed: - [Apple Inc.
