X/gnome is pretty much unusable...it is crashing as soon as I launch an application (terminal, firefox, vuze...). I cannot kill X and get a console. I have tried SSHing from another machine and killing X and GDM on the command line, but the computer is still UNUSABLE UNTIL I REBOOT. There are no errors that stand out in the log files.
