Public bug reported:

I installed Kubuntu Dapper on my Thinkpad 240 with a pcmcia wifi
card(D-Link DWL-G630). In dapper, the card worked perfectly and would
automatically reconnect when i brought the laptop out of standby. The
laptop uses apm and it goes in/out of standby using hardware buttons. It
doesnt have an optical drive, so I have been updating it with apt to new
ubuntu releases. When Ii upgraded to edgy, the card still worked, but I
would have to do "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" to get it to
reconnect when coming out of standby. I upgraded to Feisty to see if the
problem had been fixed in the alpha releases, but then I found that the
card did not work at all with 2.6.20-1 kernel(it still works when I boot
into 2.6.19). I waited a while, and I tried out 2.6.20-3, and the card
was still not recognized. The pcmcia slot does get power, because the
light flashes every 5 seconds or so.

I also want to report that knetworkmanager does not work with this card
in either edgy or feisty, although IIRC it did work under dapper.
Normally, I would have done a reinstall to see if the problem was still
there with a fresh install, but without a cdrom drive it is very
difficult, and I dont want to risk damaging my hdd again by moving it
into my other laptop for the installation.

I wasnt sure if this should have gone into the Feisty category, but it
was empty so I posted here.

Thanks
