Ok, I have a Dell Inspiron 1000, which has a Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 65x/M650/740 PCI/AGP VGA Display Adapter. When I start my computer up with my external monitor (the Vivitron Gateway2000), it displays what is on my laptop's display. I tried to set up so that the external monitor will display firefox and my laptop's display will display pidgin. I can't seem to do it.
With the external monitor plugged in, in Applications/Settings/Display, it only has Screen 1 in the screen select plane, not Screen 1 for the laptop's internal display and Screen 2 for the external display. After I did that, I tried to press Fn+F3, which is the laptop's function combination to switch between the external monitor, both monitors, and the internal monitor. Pressing Fn+F3 only switched between Both monitors and the external, in that order. So my problem is I can't get the dual monitor setup, it's only two monitors with the same screen. No, i didn't install Xinerama. I was able to do it with Xubuntu 8.04 in a different laptop. -- Xubuntu 9.04 Beta does not show two screens https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
