Sorry, it's late, and my last post didn't make much sense.  I should proofread.

Also, to clarify, I tried 2 different things:
1. Installed OMS in the live-cd environment.  It worked correctly.
2. Installed OMS on a freshly installed Jaunty beta system (but it did have 
Ubuntu restricted extras installed).  It did not work.  Neither did removing 
the java packages listed above.

Like I said, I don't *think* re-installing and trying OMS before
installing *any* packages would make a difference, but if you'd like me
to try, I can.
