@Alessio, Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that actually. 2.6.28-3-rt won't even boot for some reason on my Intrepid install (amd64) I'm just running a custom build of 2.6.28-4 with CONFIG_HZ=1000 for audio stuff at the moment as that is running just fine for audio work for me.
I'll try rt again in the future maybe, but frankly I've had enough problems with it recently that I'll probably just continue to build my own in the future.
