Update of today for Jaunty Beta included also some changes in Alsa and pulseaudio. For me the sound works now properly, far better than before. But I can still produce the crackling when playing too much around, meaning having open several windows with more than one source of sound active. Unfortunately I can't tell how to reproduce it reliably.
