Follow-up as detailed here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume

1. Machine breaks while going to sleep. It is a suspend/hibernate
failure. When the suspend shortcut (or menu option) is pressed, the
monitor dims as expected, but the machine does not shut off. After a
timeout of perhaps one minute, the "screen locked" dialogue comes up.
When the hibernate function is enabled, the screen dims as expected,
then dumps me to the login screen. The machine never makes it to a sleep
mode.

2. Sadly, the problem is not reproducible at this point in time.
However, last night before I went to bed, I couldn't suspend or
hibernate the computer. It occurred 3 times out of 3 (before I got sick
of it and shut it down). I will report back when the problem surfaces
again.

3. Suspend/Hibernate worked on Intrepid, 2.6.27-11-generic.

4. No flashing caps lock.

I will attempt debugging further once the problem arises again.
