Why local issue?

i want to run a old vibra 16 sb card (ISA slot) which does not work on a
new install of edgy.
I get a different error whith edgy up to date. I get binaries from
official repository.

i follow the instruction located here:
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Creative+Labs&card=Sound+Blaster+Vibra16X.&chip=sb16&module=sb16#Inst%20

with for alsa driver 1.0.9*.

i can't understand why gcc can't compile, cause i check file where gcc
find one error and don't saw it, so i don't know if the trouble is
caused by corrupt linux generic header :-|, or by a bug in gcc ( :-|
too ).
