Yes, there are issues when the frame buffer width > 2048. But I do not
understand why it should be that wide in your case, since the two
connected screens both come up in 800x600. But this is off-topic :)

This bug sounds related to
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20585 which was fixed by
-intel 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu2. How does this version perform?
