Public bug reported:
upgraded from 8.04 to 9.04 today
after rebooting the system X started but i didn't get any kdm greeter. all i
got was a shady grey background and a mouse cursor (not the default kde4-theme).
after
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
everything was fine.
