Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-96
I downloaded and enabled the nvidia-glx-96 package, rebooted and found the usual that people with 420 Go cards find: a blank laptop screen. I followed these instructions at http://blog.freshnewpage.com/2008/04/26/nvidia-geforce4-420-go-on-ubuntu-804-hardy-heron/ which worked fine (and by that I mean the usual "black stripe" issue was occuring, but I could see the desktop) up until I used a custom EDID. After I changed the EDID to the custom one (with hardcoded 1024x768 as opposed to 969x768), the laptop display would be almost completely dark, with vague diagonal-ish lines, indicating that the refresh rate is almost certainly wrong. It's a Toshiba Satellite (apparently known as Tecra in other countries) TE2100, and I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid with all the latest updates. Attached is my xorg.conf (I commented the line that causes the blank/diagonal lines issue). ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-96 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: blank nvidia rate refresh screen -- GeForce4 420 Go issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348905 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
